The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) installed the historical marker "Landas ng Pagkabansa" at Mansiyong Pamintuan on February 6, 2025.

The event is part of the three-year commemoration and celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and the Inauguration of the First Republic, which runs from 12 June 2023, to 23 March 2026.

According to NHCP Executive Director Carminda Arevalo, Mansiyong Pamintuan is among the historical sites recognized for their role in the formation of the Philippines as a nation.

Historical records from the NHCP show that President Emilio Aguinaldo and his delegation used Mansiyong Pamintuan as their residence at the height of the Philippine-American War.

After leaving Malolos, Bulacan, where the First Philippine Republic was inaugurated, Aguinaldo and his delegation arrived in Angeles City in May 1899 and stayed until July 1899. During this period, the delegation celebrated the first anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

Aguinaldo chose Mansiyong Pamintuan as his residence during the war because it was owned by Florentino Pamintuan, a member of the Philippine Revolutionary Committee. The mansion was a gift to Pamintuan from his parents, Mariano Pamintuan and Valentina Torres.

NHCP Director Arevalo highlighted that Aguinaldo’s escape from Malolos to Angeles was crucial in preserving the First Republic, which was officially inaugurated at Barasoain Church in Malolos on 23 January 1899.

Had Aguinaldo been captured by US forces, the First Republic would have struggled to survive. To evade capture, he moved from Angeles City to Tarlac, then to Cabanatuan City, before finally being captured by the Americans in Palanan, Isabela.

The NHCP aims to complete the installation of historical markers in all significant sites related to the formation of the Republic of the Philippines by 2026.
