The unsinkable Bangka and fishers' determination at the Tullahan River

LOOK: Fishermen launched their bangka and set sail near sunset to fish in the sea on Saturday, 1 February, at Tullahan River, Leaño Street Riverside, Navotas City.

Crafted from wood with bamboo outriggers for added stability, the bangka is designed for navigation in local waters. Fishing remains one of the most hazardous occupations globally, yet for these fishermen, the thrill of the catch and their deep connection with nature provide both purpose and peace. More importantly, fishing is a vital source of livelihood for the community.
