Immaculada Concepcion College (ICC) held Philippine Women’s University (PWU) scoreless for almost eight minutes in the payoff period and en route to a 70-54 win in the UCAL-PGFlex Linoleum 7th Season on Saturday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

While their defense was rock-solid, their offense was also impressive with Edrian Mark Ramirez and Alfred Joseph Flores spearheading the team’s fourth-quarter onslaught, coming through with a triple each to help rip the game wide apart, 62-45.

PWU never recovered from that ICC salvo and absorbed its third straight defeat while the ICC Sea Hawks improved to 2-1 win-loss card in the 10-team tournament.

In the second, Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas likewise hiked its record to 2-1 with an 87-74 demolition of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas.

Ram Mesqueriola stood at the forefront of PCU’s assault as he ran rings around his guards to finish with 30 points on an eye-popping 6-of-6 from downtown and 2-of-2 from the free throw area.

In all, he shot 11-of-15 from the field to earn the Best Player of the Game in the tournament.

Ramirez was also almost unstoppable as he finished with 37 points on a remarkable 15-of -21 shooting from the field on top of six rebounds, five steals and two assists, numbers enough to make up for his four turnovers.

Flores was two assists shy of completing a double-double after posting 12 points, eight assists and three rebounds.

Mesqueriola, who also had eight assists and two boards, was ably supported by Dave Bagatnan and John Carl Catayong, who fired 15 and 12 points, respectively.
