Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga '25 winner Krizza Gilliam Yco resigns

Newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga 2025 Krizza Gilliam Yco has officially stepped down as the province’s representative for the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

In a statement released by the Pampanga pageant organizers on Thursday, Yco announced her decision to relinquish her title due to personal reasons.

“With a heavy heart, we want to share the bittersweet news that our Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga Krizza Gilliam Yco has decided to step down from her title, effective today, January 30, 2025. This poignant decision comes from a place of personal growth and a determined commitment to prioritize her studies,” the statement read.

The organizers expressed their admiration for Yco’s courage in putting her future first and extended their gratitude for her time as their queen.

“We are filled with admiration for Krizza’s courage to put her future first, and we will forever cherish the memories and the grace she brought to her reign,” they added.

Yco was crowned Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga 2025 during the grand coronation night on 24 January.

Her 1st runner-up, Ira de Castro, is expected to take over the title and represent Pampanga in the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines competition de Castro was followed by Mhariel Atis (2nd runner-up), Sarah Bonifacio Bakhit (3rd runner-up), and Rhancoise Mayangitan (4th runner-up).

The new Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga will go on to compete for the national crown and the chance to represent the country on the global stage.
