Capitalizing on the country’s robust consumer market, Ayala Land Inc. (ALI), the real estate arm of the Ayala Group, is set to open 78,000 square meters of new retail space this year.
At a media briefing on Thursday, Mariana Zobel de Ayala, ALI’s head of leasing and hospitality, said the company is expanding its retail footprint with the planned openings of new malls, including retail areas in Vermosa in Imus City, Park Triangle in Bonifacio Global City, as well as the first phases of Solenad 4 and Arca South.
“We started the year talking a lot about a very ambitious redevelopment program for our flagship malls. We have a lot of conviction in the market. We have a lot of conviction in the Filipino consumer. And part of that is because we were very excited by the growth we saw in foot traffic last year,” Zobel de Ayala said.
In addition to its expansion plans, ALI aims to revamp another 30,000 square meters of retail space to enhance customer experience.
The company is also pushing forward with an extensive mall redevelopment program, with key projects nearing completion.
To date, renovations across its flagship malls — Glorietta, Ayala Center Cebu, Trinoma, and Greenbelt — are now between 40 percent and 60 percent complete.
The Ayala Center Cebu redevelopment was unveiled in time for Sinulog and the holiday season, generating strong tenant and customer interest.
With 700,000 square meters of mall space under planning or construction, Zobel de Ayala said ALI remains committed to providing innovative retail environments aligned with evolving consumer preferences.
