Tarlac governor faces complaints

DT

Officials from Barangay Tibag in Tarlac City has filed material misrepresentation complaints against Tarlac Governor Susan Yap before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for allegedly having an intent to deceive the public about the governor's qualifications to run for mayor of Tarlac City.

The complaint – filed by officials of Barangay Tibag led by chairman Jay-Ar Capulong Navarro and barangay council members Larry Espinosa, Mark Campos, Remigio Tabane, Jovelyn Navarro, Wilson Sapad -- and Dave Basilio – seeks to cancel her certificate of candidacy and remove her name from the ballot for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

This stemmed from reports that the governor is allegedly not residing in Barangay Tibag contrary to what was filed in the governor’s certificate of candidacy as she runs for the mayoralty post.

The complainants alleged that they have not seen the governor at her declared residence for a long time.

They also alleged that a provincial capitol employee went to Barangay Tibag in November 2024 to request a residency certification for the governor and upon inspection, the house in question was allegedly found to be a warehouse.
