A human body was recovered by the police last Monday, 27 January, afternoon, after it was seen floating along Pulo River in Barangay Poblacion, Valenzuela City.
According to Valenzuela City Police Station Chief PCOL Nixon Cayaban, the body was discovered around 12:30 PM by Ananias Ignacio, a resident of Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
“Initial investigation disclosed that while witness Ignacio was fetching water at the said river, he noticed a male person floating,” the sketchy report reads.
Ignacio requested assistance from the local barangay and the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), which was also forwarded to the Polo Police Substation.
Policemen Allan Vargas and Richard Camba of the Polo Substation were among the first responders at the scene.
The body was identified as Roy Manalang, 30, a resident of Maypajo, Caloocan City.
Police Captain Joan De Leon, chief of the Station Community Affairs Section (SCAS) of Valenzuela City Police, noted that investigators have ruled out the possibility of foul play.
Based on the sketchy report submitted, the police are considering the possibility of a drowning incident.
Manalang’s body is undergoing an autopsy examination to determine the exact cause of his death.
