The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) is hoping for the modernization of the agriculture sector, benefiting Filipino farmers, among other high aspirations this Year of the Wooden Snake.

“In this new year, we have high hopes for the continued modernization of our Philippine agriculture and supporting Filipino farmers, the upliftment of our fisheries and fishermen, and the expansion of our very important tourism industry,” said FFCCCII president Dr. Cecilio Pedro.

He said his group is also looking forward to major investments in renewable energy, which will not only lower power costs but also contribute to a sustainable future.

“By boosting local manufacturing industries and exports, we can create more jobs and strengthen our economy.”

“The continued construction of major infrastructure projects will further enhance connectivity and drive progress across the nation,” Pedro further said.

Increased FDIs

Moreover, he said Filipino-Chinese businessmen in the country also aspire for increased inflows of foreign direct investments, which will spur social development and poverty alleviation.

“Better education and public health systems are essential to building a resilient and prosperous society. Together, we can achieve these goals and ensure a better quality of life for all Filipinos,” Dr. Pedro said.

Ancient Chinese calendar

The year 2025 marks the beginning of the 4,723rd year in the ancient Chinese calendar.

The Year of the Snake, on the other hand, symbolizes wisdom, transformation and prosperity.

“It is a time to reflect on our achievements and look forward to new opportunities for growth and progress. As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, let us also envision a brighter future for the Philippines — helping the nation achieve economic prosperity, harmony and stability,” the group leader said.
