Kakao Entertainment confirmed Tuesday in a website post that a live-action drama of Solo Leveling is officially in the works.

The company outlined general plans for the future of Solo Leveling and mentioned that the live-action project is currently in different stages of planning and development.

"Our media department is currently in the process of developing the project and the storyline," Kakao Entertainment said.

The announcement did not disclose any specifics such as the release date, cast, or other details.

Based on Chugong’s web novel, the story follows Sung Jinwoo, known as the “weakest hunter,” who was brutally slaughtered in a dungeon with high-ranking monsters. He was mysteriously brought to life by a system that gives him mysterious powers that level him up.

The WEBTOON adaptation of Solo Leveling has been a massive success internationally, creating both the anime series and an official game.

The anime is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, with character designs by Tomoko Sudo and music by Hiroyuki Sawano.

The ongoing second season of the anime, produced by A-1 Pictures, has achieved significant success, securing the #1 spot in Amazon Prime Japan's TV Show category and ranking in the top 10 on Netflix across 11 countries.

Solo Leveling: Arise, an action RPG by Netmarble, allows players to take on the role of Jinwoo as he navigates a world where hunters battle monsters in dangerous dungeons. The game features a blend of exploration, combat, and character progression, allowing players to experience the story through various quests and challenges.

"The Solo Leveling franchise is symbolic intellectual property content that represents Korea's content industry," Kakao Entertainment said.
