The American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Chris Brown has filed a lawsuit against the creators of the documentary Chris Brown: A History of Violence, according to an announcement on his Instagram.
The documentary, produced by Ample, LLC and Warner Brothers, along with individuals behind the project, examines Brown’s troubled past, including his childhood and alleged history of abuse, as depicted in a recently surfaced trailer.
Brown’s legal team argues that the film spreads misinformation and damages his reputation, stating that “Chris Brown has never been found at fault for any type of sexual crime.” They accuse the filmmakers of exploiting false narratives for personal gain.
In their statement, Brown’s team emphasized his commitment to accountability: “Through this process, Chris Brown seeks accountability and aims to stand against the exploitation of misinformation for personal gain.”
Additionally, they revealed that a portion of the $500 million lawsuit will be donated to survivors of sexual abuse.
