Nationals book Futsal Women's Asian Cup slot despite 1-2 loss vs Aussies

The Philippine national women’s futsal team qualified for the suffered a 1-2 AFC Futsal Women’s Asian Cup despite a 1-2 loss to Australia in the qualifiers Sunday evening at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent. 

With a 2-1-1 win-draw-loss record, the Nationals secured the second spot in Group C and earned a slot for the tournament that will be held in China from 7 to 18 May. 

Daisy Arrowsmith scored first for the Australians in the seventh minute before Halle Smit tied the game in the 20th minute with an own goal as she tried to deflect the shot of Dionesa Tolentin.

Jessica Au made it 2-1 for Australia after scoring a tap-in goal in the 21st minute off an assist from Arrowsmith.

Katrina Guillou finished the qualifiers as the top scorer for the Philippines with four goals in four matches.
