A fatal vehicular accident occurred along Batac-Paoay Road in Barangay Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte, at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the Batac City Police Station, the accident involved three vehicles: a black Yamaha Aerox (Vehicle 1), a blue Euro 125 motorcycle (Vehicle 2), and a motorized tricycle (Vehicle 3). Vehicle 1 was driven by Clyde Christian Bigorni, 30, a call center employee from Barangay Ablan, Batac City. Bigorni was not wearing a protective helmet at the time of the incident. Vehicle 2 was operated by Joey Cadiang, 44, from Tarlac, with Clifford Paga, 48, as his back rider.
Vehicle 3, a black Honda TMX 155 tricycle, was driven by Julius Bert Patrono, 29, from Barangay Mabaleng, Batac City.
Initial investigations revealed that Bigorni was overtaking another vehicle while heading east when he accidentally struck Vehicle 2, which was traveling in the same direction.
The collision caused both motorcycles to lose control. Bigorni then collided with Vehicle 3, which was parked on the outer lane of the road, before crashing into an electric post. Bigorni sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center by City Health Office paramedics and the Bureau of Fire Protection. However, he was declared dead on arrival at 11:46 p.m. by Dr. Ulysses Gaygay.
