Manny V. Pangilinan teams up with Donald Petrie for Philippines-set rom-com ‘The Last Resort’

Donald Petrie, the director behind romantic comedy classics like Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, has been tapped to helm The Last Resort, a romantic comedy set in the Philippines.

The film is written by Karen McCullah, the screenwriter behind beloved rom-coms such as 10 Things I Hate About You and Legally Blonde.

According to an exclusive report from Variety, Petrie brings decades of experience to the project, with a filmography that includes Grumpy Old Men, Mystic Pizza, and My Life in Ruins. His TV credits include The Kominsky Method and an Emmy-nominated stint on L.A. Law.

McCullah, who was born in the Philippines and raised in the U.S., has also penned hits like She’s the Man, Ella Enchanted, The Ugly Truth, and The House Bunny.

Prominent Filipino businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan serves as the executive producer, making it a significant collaboration between Hollywood and the Philippines.
