Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial refuted allegations made by his wife, Princess Jenniel Galarpe, accusing him of concubinage, emotional stress, physical abuse, and building a house in Zamboanga for another woman using their life savings.
In an interview with GMA Integrated News, an emotional Marcial stated that the allegations were contrary to the actual events between him and his wife.
Speaking in Tagalog, Marcial explained that the woman referred to by his wife in her viral Facebook post was merely a friend he was helping and denied that they were living together.
"Kaibigan ko lang na tinutulungan ko," he said.
He also denied the claim that he withdrew all their savings, pointing out that the joint account passbook is in his wife’s possession, along with the titles to all their properties.
Marcial alleged that the filing of the case stemmed from his decision to separate from his wife, claiming he had been subjected to physical abuse. He stated that any injuries sustained by his wife were acts of self-defense against her attacks.
The Olympic bronze medalist further revealed that misunderstandings began after the Olympics, during which they had stopped living together as husband and wife.
He expressed willingness to separate from his wife and proposed that their conjugal properties be divided equally.
Marcial lamented that after winning the olympics his family, particularly his ailing father, were not able to avail financial help because of their misunderstanding.
Marcial lamented that misunderstandings had prevented his family, particularly his ailing father, from receiving financial support.
"I will show our house in the province. I was not even able to buy a car for my father to use for medical checkups," he said in Tagalog.
Princess Jenniel Galarpe, the wife of Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, has confirmed their breakup and the filing of a concubinage case against her husband for allegedly living with another woman and subjecting her to months of trauma, manipulation, emotional stress, and physical abuse.
Jenniel, a native of this city, detailed her experiences in a Facebook post, describing psychological torment during their relationship. She recounted catching Eumir with his mistress at a condominium in Pasay in October 2024, which led to their arrest and temporary detention. Jenniel also alleged that Eumir withdrew all their savings to build a house in Zamboanga for his mistress, with whom he now lives.
