The Northern Police District (NPD) began preparations for the 2025 midterm elections by reviewing strategies and measures to effectively implement the directives of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

NPD acting director PCOL Josefino Ligan led the meeting that focused on election-related security measures, including Comelec checkpoints in the Camanava area. Detailed guidelines were also discussed by members of the police force, especially on how they will man Comelec checkpoints in the area.

Among the priorities of the said conference is to minimize possible election-related violence and threats.

In a statement, the NPD said that it will vow to ensure the strict implementation of its election rules.

“The NPD reiterates its commitment to uphold neutrality and enforce election laws.”

The heads of the local police chiefs of Camanava police stations — PCOL Paul Jady Doles of Caloocan City, PCOL Jay Baybayan of Malabon City, PCOL Mario Cortes of Navotas City, and PCOL Nixon Cayaban of Valenzuela City — were also present at the meeting.

PCOL Doles led a meeting with the commanders of substations 1 to 15, where they discussed Comelec Resolution 11067, a memorandum that will focus on the election gun ban.

As of Friday, the Public Information Office of the Northern Police District said that it was having an ongoing meeting with the Comelec.
