The Department of Health (DOH) reported Tuesday that it will position 20 medical stations across strategic locations during Traslacion or the procession of Jesus Nazareno.
The DOH, in collaboration with partner agencies and the City Government of Manila, will deploy medical teams and health stations in the main areas of the Traslacion route, including Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, SM Manila, Ayala Bridge, P. Casal, and Quinta Market.
Designated health stations along the Traslacion route will provide basic and advanced care as needed.
Ambulances are also on standby for immediate transport of patients to the hospital.
The DOH also hoisted Code White Alert in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and Central Luzon hospitals until 10 January.
This means hospitals must be ready to respond to emergencies at any time, particularly their general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists, and otorhinolaryngologists, during large gatherings.
In addition, 201 personnel from the Health Emergency Response Team of 20 DOH hospitals in Metro Manila, including Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Tondo Medical Center, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, and East Avenue Medical Center, will also be designated in strategic areas.
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa also emphasized the importance of following health and safety precautions during Traslacion.
Devotees are also encouraged that if they have a cough or cold and do not feel well, avoid going to Traslacion so that the condition does not worsen and prevent the spread of the disease.
Herbosa also advised attending Traslacion to stay hydrated, wear comfortable clothing, and limit prolonged exposure to heat to prevent illnesses such as heat stroke.
"Ang taunang Traslacion ay panata na ng milyun-milyong mga Pilipinong deboto. Kasama niyo ang DOH sa pagtitiyak ng maayos na kalusugan at kaligtasan ng lahat (The annual Traslacion is a vow of millions of Filipino devotees. The DOH is with you in ensuring the good health and safety of all),” Herbosa said.
“Kasama ang ating mga katuwang na ahensya, ang DOH ay handang tumugon sa anumang medical emergencies at magbigay ng agarang pangangalaga (Together with our partner agencies, the DOH is ready to respond to any medical emergencies and provide immediate care),” he added.
Herbosa also encouraged all devotees to cooperate, be vigilant, and prioritize their health during this momentous celebration.
