The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will extend the run of its official entries until 14 January in select cinemas, following requests from movie enthusiasts and the public.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman and MMFF Overall Chairman Atty. Don Artes expressed his gratitude for the continued support from moviegoers.

The festival, originally set to end on 7 January, will now be extended for another week.

“We, at the MMFF, are overwhelmed with the continued support of the public for the festival’s 50th edition. Due to public clamor, we have decided to extend the theatrical run of the MMFF movies to further showcase the locally produced films that are truly impressive and artistically excellent,” Artes said.

With the extension, MMFF complimentary passes will also be honored until 14 January.

Artes said they are hopeful that the 2024 MMFF earnings will continue to grow.

Organized by the MMDA, the MMFF is aimed primarily at promoting and preserving Philippine cinema.

Proceeds from the MMFF benefit various organizations in the film industry, including the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the Optical Media Board, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
