The City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) of Malabon City announced on Sunday that over 18,000 residents underwent online pre-registration for the city’s local housing council.
It added that before 2024 ended, they had received 911 applications that were backed with supporting documents.
In a statement, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said that they will create more housing projects in 2025, adding that these would be clean and sturdy housing units.
“We will ensure the implementation of these projects in 2025, and we will also plan and develop additional housing projects throughout the year,” Sandoval said.
One of their housing projects is the 11-story Libertad 1 housing project in Barangay Tinajeros, which will provide 88 housing units to Malabon residents.
The housing project is currently 50 percent complete and is currently in the stage of installing steel columns in the area.
Residents can inquire at the lobby of Malabon City Hall regarding the requirements and the needed documents to formally apply for the city’s housing projects.
Last 2024, over 440 residents of Barangays Baritan, Catmon, and Longos received Certificates of Entitlement of Lot Allocation from the city council.
As the year progresses, the local government of Malabon City said that with the help of the Community and Urban Poor Affairs Office, they are eyeing to relocate at least 3,000 families in the coastal area of Barangay Panghulo.
