Bataan kids shine at Int’l Vedic Olympiad 

IVMO consists of one hour exam-like papers that test ability and speed in using Vedic Maths techniques and their applications to problem-solving.

HERMOSA, Bataan — Students from this town have emerged victorious at the International Science Olympiad Competition of Southeast Asia (ISOCSEA) at International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad (IVMO).

Mayor Antonio Joseph Inton expressed his elation over the success of the Hermosa students after winning against delegates from other countries.

Inton congratulated Jarred Paschal for winning the gold in the Secondary IV and the Top Scorer-Champion; Gabriel Inigo Cotchesa, a gold medalist (Secondary II) and Top Scorer-1st Runner Up; and Rick Justine Pascual, a silver medalist (Secondary III) and Top Scorer-2nd Runner Up for the ISOCSEA.

For the IVMO, Inton congratulated Rick Justine Pascual Gold Medalist (Intermediate Category); Johan Jheric Buensuceso, Silver Medalist (Intermediate Category); and Aldrin Molinar, Merit Awardee (Intermediate Category).

Inton also congratulated the teachers who guided the students, including Lizzette Fabian, Maria Fe Ignacio, Rica Reglos, Wilchester Perez, Ernani Manalac and Haren Valencia.

He extended his gratitude to Arcele Servera (HNHS Principal), Arnold Marcos (JHS Assistant Principal), Cathren Danica Ricaplaza (SHS Assistant Principal), Arlene Carlos (PSDS), Carolina Violeta (SDS), and Armando Capili (Assistant SDS).

IVMO is an event spearheaded and hosted by the London-based Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics.

IVMO consists of one hour exam-like papers that test ability and speed in using Vedic Maths techniques and their applications to problem-solving.

Since the 1st IVMO in 2021, the number of participants more than doubled every year. This indicates the rapidly growing popularity of Vedic Mathematics worldwide. In 2022, the Filipinos took 90 percent of the awards. Last year, there were more than 5,000 competitors from 7 countries and our local math wizards took 95 percent of the total awards given.

The results of IVMO 2024 per center will be sent to the coordinator starting on 23 December 2024. MATH-Inic Philippines will compile the list of all Filipino winners will publish it in the next issue of the MATH-Inic Newsletter.
