Caloocan City Mayor Dale Malapitan reminded his constituents of the prohibition on the use of “boga” and other explosive firecrackers within the city.
Boga is also known as an improvised cannon.
In a message, Malapitan stressed that the city also prohibits the use of illegal firecrackers and open-pipe motorcycles.
“We are strictly prohibiting the use of boga, illegal firecrackers, and open-pipe motorcycles to make noise this New Year in Caloocan City,” Malapitan said.
The city mayor also ordered the local police to strictly enforce the ordinance and arrest violators, including minors, who will be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Department.
The city mayor also urged local barangay officials to designate specific fireworks display zones in different areas of Caloocan City.
Under Executive Order 040-24, prohibited firecrackers include baby rocket, whistle bomb, bawang, trianggulo, pulling string, el diablo, sky rocket, and other similar firecrackers.
