Substantial economic growth is a measure of prosperity and the foundation of a thriving society. It empowers individuals, uplifts communities, and fosters innovation for a better future.

Every time significant economic growth occurs, a wave of optimism resonates. The positive shift can manifest in various ways, including increased job opportunities, improved wages and heightened consumer confidence.

We often experience heightened financial security as businesses prosper and investments increase. The growth can lead to improved public services and infrastructure development or more “ayuda” to assist the financially distressed and people affected by natural calamities. Individuals feel empowered to make decisions that positively affect their futures.

This year’s conclusion is especially noteworthy because the Philippine economy emerged as one of the fastest-growing in Asia. Economic growth reached 5.2 percent in the third quarter, resulting in an average expansion of 5.8 percent over the year’s first three quarters.

The Marcos administration has worked diligently to safeguard Filipinos’ purchasing power against rising food prices, ensuring that inflation remains within the government’s target range for 2024.

According to the Department of Finance, inflation, which averaged 6.0 percent last year, had decelerated to 3.2 percent as of November.

Inflation is comfortably within the government’s target range of 2 to 4 percent, which makes economic managers optimistic about achieving at least the lower end of this year’s 6 to 6.5 percent economic growth target. For 2025 to 2028, a growth target of 6.0 to 8.0 percent has been established.

The growth continues despite various global and domestic challenges, including political tensions that have brought negative international attention.

However, the resilience and adaptability of key sectors despite obstacles have allowed for continued progress and development, demonstrating a commitment to overcoming adversity while pursuing growth opportunities.

The strong recovery and optimistic outlook will inspire people and businesses to celebrate the holiday season with renewed hope.

As the economy grows, businesses usually expand, resulting in job creation. This leads to lower unemployment rates and more income for individuals.

The enjoyment of benefits can only be facilitated if we elect decent local executives prioritizing their constituents over personal gain.
