QCitizens! Ready to enter 2025 with a bang?
The Quezon City Government will hold its annual New Year’s countdown complete with OPM rock icons in a free concert. The Quezon Memorial Circle will come alive at 5 p.m. on 31 December, where everyone is invited, including non-QC residents, to welcome the year ahead with a concert featuring the biggest pop and rock musicians in the country.
Headlining the night is singer-songwriter Ely Buendia, former frontman of legendary OPM band Eraserheads who will perform songs from his latest album and classic EHeads hits.
Nine-piece Indie folk-pop band Ben&Ben is also set to make an appearance at the festive New Year’s Eve celebration, bringing its melodic and heartfelt acoustic songs like “Kathang Isip,” “Ride Home” and “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay.”
Master rapper Gloc 9 is ready to spit bars through his lyrical prowess and storytelling by the start of the new year with tracks like “Upuan,” “Sumayaw Ka” and “Sirena.”
Also in the lineup is Bulacan-based band The Juans, iconic for catchy and relatable pop-rock tunes like “Hindi Tayo Pwede,” “Hatid” and “Gupit.” Set to bring the crowd back to the 90s is alternative rock band Shamrock, to serenade the crowd with a classic setlist consisting of “Alipin,” “Haplos” and “Pagkakataon.”
Kamikazee will rock the roof off 2024, with songs like “Martyr Nyebera,” “Halik” and “Huling Sayaw.” Noel Palomo with the Repakol band are hyped up to perform old hits from the frontman’s Siakol days like “Tropa,” Peksman” and “Ituloy Mo Lang.”
Singer-songwriter and former Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano is set to perform his original songs alongside fellow labelmates signed to O/C Records, including soloists mrld and Kenaniah, as well as R&B singer Ryannah J.
Though the night is sure to be filled with joy and laughter as comedians Uma Rojo, MC Muah, Lassy Marquez, Ate Negi and actor CJ Villavicencio host the thrilling and exciting countdown to the new year.
Attendees are reminded to bring their own tumblers to stay hydrated as the event will be plastic-free to limit trash in the area.
QCitizens can take a free bus ride from pinpoint areas like Cubao, Litex, Mindanao Avenue and Novaliches Proper (General Luis) to the Quezon City Hall for a faster and more convenient ride going to the venue.
