The Sikaran-Karate Association of the Philippines (SIKAP) formally appointed a new adviser during its board meeting and Christmas part on 21 December at the Manila Hotel.
Atty. Oscar Herrera Jr., a retired Associate Justice of the Sandiganbayan, was formally introduced to the executive board by SIKAP president Manny Inserto.
Inserto also awarded Herrera a Certificate of Appreciation for his contributions to the organization during the board meeting attended by key SIKAP officials.
The SIKAP board discussed the continuation of its major projects, including their grassroots development program in which they offer free karate training to all ages.
Present during the affair were SIKAP secretary general Homer Mesina, vice president for Luzon Boy Eli Jr., assistant vice president for Luzon Tony Dacalos, vice president for the Visayas Rene Caling, and executive secretary for the Visayas Arlene Jimenez.
Other SIKAP executives who were not present but were briefed of the outcome of the meeting were vice president for Mindanao Luisito Bautista, assistant vice president for the Visayas Roseller Martinez, and assistant vice president for Mindanao Arnel Intatano.
Due to the success and insistent demand of Inserto’s first book, KARATE: Workout for Seniors and Non-Seniors at home during Covid-19, he is now preparing his second book, Fundamentals of Karate, the self-discipline and defense techniques.
The book is expected to be available by July of next year.
