As the May 2025 elections draw closer, senatorial candidate Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson has made a lasting impression with his vibrant and solutions-driven campaign.
With his platforms centered on financial inclusivity, economic growth, job creation, industrialization, and modernized public transportation, Singson has effectively captured the hearts of many Filipinos, from grassroots communities to local leaders.
Extensive Nationwide Outreach
Since the official start of the campaign period, Manong Chavit has embarked on a relentless nationwide tour, covering key provinces such as Ilocos Sur, Cebu, Zamboanga, Pampanga, Misamis Occidental and Laguna, as well as Metro Manila cities.
His presence in these areas has been met with warm reception and growing support.
In every stop, Singson has presented actionable solutions aimed at addressing poverty, improving public transportation, and fostering economic resilience. His ability to connect with diverse audiences has made him a favorite among local government officials, transport groups, and everyday Filipinos alike.
Flagship programs that resonate
At the heart of Manong Chavit’s campaign are several initiatives tailored to uplift the lives of ordinary citizens.
His VBank program aims to ensure financial inclusivity, allowing Filipinos in even the most remote areas to access banking services.
This program also serves as a platform to improve government aid distribution, minimizing corruption through transparency and efficiency.
Meanwhile, his Chavit 500 Universal Basic Income Program has become a cornerstone of his poverty alleviation efforts.
Designed to provide a steady monthly income to low-income families, this initiative promises to reduce poverty, keep children in school and support families during times of crisis.
In line with his push for greener initiatives, Singson has also advocated for public transportation modernization. He has proposed the use of Philippine-made electric vehicles and offered drivers and operators incentives and low-interest loans to facilitate this shift.
Advancing economic growth
Singson, who is listed No. 58 on the Senate ballot, has emphasized the importance of establishing additional economic zones to attract more foreign investments and spur industrial growth. By cutting bureaucratic red tape, he envisions the Philippines becoming a competitive economic force in Asia.
“Ecozones are key to unlocking the country’s potential. They will bring in businesses, create jobs, and ultimately uplift communities,” Singson said in a recent address.
Rising support from local leaders
One of Singson’s strongest assets is his strong rapport with local government officials and leaders. His collaborative approach has won him endorsements from governors, mayors, and barangay officials across the nation, who see him as a unifying figure capable of bridging local and national governance.
His campaign slogan, “May Isang Salita,’ has resonated deeply to his audiences.
Manong Chavit’s legacy of credibility
Throughout his campaign, Singson has continuously reinforced his commitment to credibility and integrity — a value instilled in him by his father. He has repeatedly stated that credibility is the foundation of effective leadership, a principle he has carried throughout his years of public service.
Looking ahead
As the nation celebrates Christmas, Singson expressed his hope that everyone could be like Santa Claus.
In a video message posted on Facebook, Manong Chavit, speaking in Filipino, shared that he enjoys being Santa Claus — even without a beard.
“I’ll look old then,” he joked. “Santa’s reindeer flies, mine doesn’t. I have many reindeer, but I have more lions.”
Like Santa, Manong Chavit said he loves giving gifts.
“Let’s be Santa to everyone,” he added.
