A member of the notorious Alcantara gang was arrested by members of the Northern Police District-District Special Operations Unit (NPD-DSOU) in a compound in Barangay 36, Caloocan City last Saturday.

The police operation was conducted pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Judge Rose Sharon Santiago Cordero-Abila of Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 129.

According to NPD-DSOU chief LT. Col. Alain Licdan, the suspect — identified as alias “Tomboy” — was drinking with her cohorts when the DSOU members apprehended her.

“There was an element of surprise when we conducted the operation,” Licdan said.

Before the arrest, “Tomboy” had been closely monitored by the DSOU.

Aside from alias “Tomboy,” also arrested were alias “Jharvis,” alias “Ranie,” alias “Renzo,” alias “Roel” and alias “Jerry.”

“Jharvis,” “Ranie” and “Renzo” are residents of Tondo, Manila, while “Roel” and “Jerry” are from Binangonan, Rizal.

High-powered firearms were also recovered by the police during the operation.

Among the recovered firearms was a Bushmaster Rifle with 25 rounds of 5.56-millimeter ammunition, a Glock 17 Gen 4 with 15 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition, and a Taurus PT 1911 Pistol with 8 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.

“Tomboy” and her cohorts are currently detained at the Northern Police District-Custodial Facility.

Licdan shared that the Alcantara Crime Group has been involved in some of the murder and robbery cases in Camanava and neighboring cities.

“They are also considered as a secondary drug trafficking group and a gun-for-hire group,” Licdan said.

Last July 2024, members of the Manila Police District were wounded after a shootout in Tondo, Manila, with members of the Alcantara Crime Group.
