The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of a truck driver involved in a fatal crash along C5 Road in Taguig, which resulted in one death and two injuries.
The LTO confirmed on Saturday that the driver’s license would be suspended for 90 days. Likewise, the truck involved in the incident will be placed “under alarm” while the investigation continues.
“We have issued a show cause order to both the driver and the registered owner of the truck, requiring them to explain why they should not face penalties under existing laws and traffic regulations,” said LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza.
The LTO instructed the driver to provide a notarized explanation regarding the accident and why his license should not be revoked. At the same time, the truck owner was asked to explain why they should not be held liable for employing a reckless driver.
The agency required both parties to appear at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City on 27 December to submit their written responses.
“Failure to appear and submit your written response will compel this Office to resolve the matter based on the available evidence on record,” the order stated.
