Officials from the Misamis Oriental provincial government recently concluded a benchmarking trip to Aboitiz InfraCapital’s (AIC) LIMA Estate in Batangas, the Philippines’ first and largest 5-star BERDE-certified industrial estate. The visit, which took place from 9 to 11 December, was aimed at learning about best practices and innovative solutions for industrial development and sustainability.
The Misamis Oriental delegation was led by Governor Peter Unabia and Vice Governor Jeremy Pelaez, along with Provincial Board members Robert de Lara, Rey Buhisan, Wayne Militante, Gerardo Sabal III, and Dexter Yasay, as well as Provincial Administrator John Ladaga. During their visit, they toured the LIMA Estate Experience Center and The Outlets at Lipa, exploring the development’s sustainable infrastructure and operations.
AIC president and CEO Cosette Canilao expressed her honor at hosting the delegation, saying, “We are honored to share the best practices and innovations of LIMA Estate with the Misamis Oriental delegation. Benchmarking activities like this exemplify AIC's commitment to fostering collaboration with our ever-valuable stakeholders.”
Christopher Camba, AIC’s first vice president and head of Corporate Affairs, added, “We are pleased to help enable local government units (LGUs) to replicate sustainable and efficient infrastructure solutions that spur economic development and enhance the quality of life in their communities.”
Misamis Oriental is home to Laguindingan International Airport, the country’s sixth-busiest gateway, which is undergoing an upgrade, operation, and maintenance by AIC, with an official turnover scheduled for April 2025. The airport serves as the gateway to Northern Mindanao and provides access to the region’s three key manufacturing economic zones: Jasaan Misamis Oriental Ecozone, Manticao Ecozone Corporation SEZ, and Phividec Industrial Estate-Economic Zone.
LIMA Estate, spanning 940 hectares in Lipa-Malvar, Batangas, is the Philippines’ largest privately-owned industrial estate. It hosts over 240 locators and employs more than 74,000 workers. It is also home to the 70-hectare Biz Hub at LIMA Estate, Batangas’ first master-planned business district. LIMA Tower One, the first office building in the district, is nearly fully leased, reflecting strong demand.
AIC Economic Estates has played a key role in generating dynamic employment opportunities and driving investments in the Philippines. To date, AIC Economic Estates has attracted P158 billion in investments, and in 2023 alone, contributed P3.4 billion in exports. AIC’s newest economic estate in Tarlac City, TARI Estate, is expected to generate over 60,000 jobs.
In addition, AIC Economic Estates recently partnered with Lipa City LGU for the PinasBilis eBoss Package, a collaboration with AboitizLand and the Aboitiz Foundation, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and speed of permits and licensing processes.
This benchmarking trip reflects AIC's commitment to promoting sustainable development and supporting local governments in creating thriving, eco-friendly industrial communities.
