The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has granted 956 special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs) to operate during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III announced on Thursday that 956 units out of 988 applications have been granted with validity from 20 December to 10 January to provide additional transportation options for commuters during the busy holiday season.
“We are glad to announce that we have approved 956 special permits for PUVs this Christmas and during the first 10 days of 2025. They are expected to cater to more commuters this holiday rush, ensuring 1 safe and efficient travel for all,” Guadiz said.
The LTFRB annually issues special permits to address the surge in holiday travelers. These permits allow PUVs, including buses, to operate beyond their original routes, helping to augment the transportation supply in high-demand areas.
“By doing this, we hope that we can at least contribute to the safer and merrier celebration of the Filipino people this Christmas,” Guadiz said.
“We ensure that other matters in terms of keeping them safe this Christmas, such as ensuring PUVs are safe to travel and terminals are efficient and convenient, will also be prioritized,” he added.
