Melinda Rafanan, a native of Solsona, Ilocos Norte, is set to be crowned “Queen of Queens of Solsona of Hawaii 2025” on 24 January 2025, during the town fiesta in Solsona. Ahead of the coronation, Rafanan has invited senatorial aspirant and Ilocos leader Luis "Manong Chavit" Singson to attend the event at the municipal auditorium.
"As one of the most respected political leaders and entrepreneurs admired by fellow Ilocanos, your presence would bring great honor and a distinguished touch to this momentous occasion," Rafanan wrote in her formal invitation to Singson.
Rafanan views the coronation as a celebration of unity, camaraderie, love, and the enduring spirit of Bayanihan among Ilocanos, particularly those returning home from abroad.
The coronation will coincide with Balikbayan Night, which kicks off the 2025 Solsona Gameng Festival. Filipinos from Hawaii and the US mainland are expected to join the celebration alongside local residents.
Manong Chavit, known for his support of beauty pageants, notably backed the Miss Universe 2016 pageant hosted in the Philippines. He previously revealed that he was offered the Miss Universe franchise but declined, choosing instead to support whoever acquired it.
Rafanan hopes that Singson's attendance will elevate the significance of the event and inspire Ilocanos both at home and abroad.
