It all started in 2022, when Jason Luzadas, more popularly known as Boss Toyo, came up with an idea of bringing a concept that he watched elsewhere to the Philippines.
“Nagsimula ito ng may mapanood ako na show sa ibang bansa [Pawn Stars]. At naisip ko na bakit hindi natin dalhin ito dito sa Pilipinas -- marami tayong local celebrities at talagang noon pa man fan na nila ako. Pinapanood ko na sila (It all began after I saw this show in another country. I thought then, why not bring this concept to the Philippines? We have many celebrities here, and I have been a fan for a long time. I have watched them a long time),” Boss Toyo said during a media conference for the GMA action-comedy series Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis.
A friend and fellow artist, John Roa, was the first to entrust an important item to Boss Toyo that cost P70,000.
“Si John Roa, isang kaibigan natin na artist ang unang nagtiwala, tapos from there, nagtuluy-tuloy na (John Roa was the first artist friend of mine who trusted me, and from there, it just went on),” he added.
Many big and iconic stars have visited Boss Toyo to show off their iconic items including National Artist and Superstar Nora Aunor with her winning dress worn during the Grand National Finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan way back 1967.
But despite all the popularity that Boss Toyo is getting nowadays, the social media star is obsessed with these items.
“Si Ina Raymundo, yung all-black na suot nya sa Sabado Nights at siyempre si Bossing Vic Sotto, yung costume niya sa Lastikman movie. Idol ko talaga kasi si Bossing Vic lalo na when it comes to hosting (I want Ina Raymundo’s all-black outfit that she wore on Sabado nights, and of course Vic Sotto’s costume on Lastikman. I really do admire him, especially when it comes to hosting),” he revealed.
A museum and more iconic items are the main goals for the Pinoy Pawn Stars owner.
“Looking forward ako na maitayo na ang museum para mabenta ko na iyung iba. Iyun lang ang naipundar ko -- yung ipunin ang mahalagang items ng mga idol natin dati na ngayon ay nakakasama ko na rin (I am looking forward to having that museum built so I can start selling some more stuff. That’s all I have managed to invest in – to gather all these important items from my idols whom I am now also working with),” he said
Boss Toyo is now part of the lead cast of Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis with Bong Revilla and Beauty Gonzales.
