A retired police official on Sunday has expressed his unwavering support to senatorial candidate Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson as he cited the former Ilocos Sur governor’s integrity and solid respect for law enforcement.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY TRIBUNE, retired Police Brigadier General Harris Fama — founder of the Retirees Alliance Incorporated — said that Singson has a unique approach to police operations.
Having served as the provincial chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Ilocos Sur, Fama praised Singson’s “hands-off” approach as he refrained from interfering with law enforcement activities as he gave his full trust that police in the province will do their jobs correctly.
He added that the former Ilocos Sur governor — who is Number 58 in the Senate ballot — has offered his full support to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) whenever needed.
“Manong Chavit never meddled with our operations. Instead, he encouraged everyone to stand behind the needs of the PNP and AFP,” Fama said, highlighting Singson’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
Fama also stressed that Singson’s reputation as a leader with integrity and dedication to public service has been his trademark, especially his “Isang Salita.”
Earlier, the Governors League of the Philippines, the League of Municipal and City Mayors and the Philippine Councilors League have expressed full support to Singson’s Senate bid.
