CAAP promotes wildlife protection, aviation safety

Following the successful completion of the Airport Wildlife Management Course held at the Civil Aviation Training Center in Pasay City from 11 to 13 December, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reiterated its commitment to environmental sustainability and animal conservation.

The three-day course demonstrates CAAP’s proactive approach to incorporating environmental stewardship into its primary aviation safety initiatives.

CAAP director general Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo stressed the need for tackling bird strikes and wildlife risks, which continue to be recurring issues in the aviation sector.

“By undertaking such courses, we enhance our knowledge to achieve safer air traffic control, more effective operations, and improved biodiversity protection,” Tamayo said.

It also expressed its gratitude to the experienced instructors from Mastermark, whose team of wildlife management specialists provided comprehensive guidance on minimizing animal hazards in aviation.
