ePLDT Inc., the ICT subsidiary of PLDT Inc., and its data center arm, VITRO Inc., are planning to expand their network of data centers nationwide, leveraging artificial intelligence to address the increasing demand for data.

At a media briefing on Tuesday, Victor S. Genuino, president and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc., said the envisioned data centers will complement the VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR), to create a comprehensive hub for data services.

“Hopefully, we can already get another lot to build our next data center. If we build, it will be no less than 100 megawatts. That’s how bullish we are on the data center industry,” Genuino said.

“I think our next data center will have to be in Luzon. And the reason why we’re saying Luzon, we will be more specific. It has to be South Luzon because we envision Vitro Santa Rosa to be the hub,” he added.

AI-ready

According to Genuino, all data centers in the pipeline will be AI-ready, mirroring the VSR, which can presently handle up to 50 kW per rack to support NVIDIA’s latest GPU chips, including the H100 and H200 models.

Its advanced capability underscores its position as the most advanced AI-ready hyperscale data center in the Philippines.

Notably, several telecommunications providers have already established points-of-presence at the VSR facility, alongside enterprises and hyperscale clients.
