A habal-habal driver received a life-changing gift when he won a motorcycle donated by 2025 senatorial bet Luis "Manong Chavit" Singson during a recent raffle in Cebu City.
Bonifacio Semeros Jr., who has been relying on his motorcycle for his family's livelihood, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the new ride that will further support his work as a driver.
"I never expected to win. I was already the 20th caller for the raffle draw. I'm very thankful to Senator Manong Chavit Singson for my new livelihood motorcycle," said the 39-year-old Semeros in an interview with DAILY TRIBUNE.
"I've been a Habal-habal driver for more than five years, and this Honda Beat will help me even more with our livelihood," he stressed.
Semeros Jr. is married to Victoria Luz Semeros (33) and has four children: Shinji (14), Kenji (8), Amarah (6), and Von (1). The family currently resides in Casili, Consolacion.
"Salamat... Salamat... Manong Chavit," Semeros exclaimed.
He works daily at JY Square Mall in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, earning an average of P500 to P700 daily, working from 8 AM until 3 PM.
"Akong masulti ni Manong Chavit, dako kaayong salamat sa premyo nga motor. Hinaot magpadayon iyang kaayo ug daghan pang matabangan. God bless," Jr. stressed.
(What I want to say to Manong Chavit is a big thank you for the motorcycle prize. I hope your kindness continues, and that you help many more people. God bless.)
Semeros was one of 10,000 habal-habal drivers who attended the Cebu City Habal-habal summit held on Saturday, 7 December, at the South Road Properties. Singson, an avid supporter of the welfare of the transport sector in the Philippines, was one of the guest speakers invited to the summit.
