Evener Toribio, 43, is busy at his repair shop on Vi llongco Street in Commonwealth, Quezon City, on 6 December, 2024. Toribio said he has been selling and repairing watches for 22 years. He shared that the cost for repairs goes for as low as P30, but the price varies depending on whether replacement is needed or more work needs to be done to fix the device. His shop also offers key duplication and shoe repair services. Through his work, Toribio is able to fund his two children’s education, who are both currently in junior high school. He said that his interest in this craft began when he was a teenager. Having only finished high school, Toribio was fortunate to receive a measly 2,300 pesos in capital from a relative to start his business. Years later, he now rents his own stall and has acquired various tools and machines to help him with his work. John Carlo Magallon
