Manila, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), held the “3rd Workshop for Technical and Business Cooperation on Road Construction and Operation and Maintenance” on 6 December 2024 at the Diamond Hotel, Manila. Ambassador Endo Kazuya joined DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and MLIT Assistant Vice-Minister Hashimoto Masamichi in welcoming participants to the event.
The workshop featured a series of presentations and exhibits highlighting innovations and best practices in road construction, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M). Attendees included representatives from government agencies and private-sector organizations from both Japan and the Philippines.
In addition to the technical discussions, the event also celebrated DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan’s receipt of the 2024 International Lifetime Contribution Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). Ambassador Endo congratulated Secretary Bonoan, commending his dedication to advancing infrastructure development in the Philippines and fostering closer cooperation between Japan and the Philippines through technical and cultural exchanges.
The workshop underscores the long-standing partnership between Japan and the Philippines in the field of infrastructure development, aiming to share expertise and encourage collaboration for mutual progress.
