There were no reported casualties in an accident involving a Philippine Navy helicopter at Sangley Point Airport in Cavite on Thursday.
Navy spokesperson Commander John Percie Alcos said the crew of Naval Helicopter NH432 was conducting a training and maintenance flight operation at the Sangley Aerodrome, Cavite, when the incident happened around 10:18 a.m. on 5 December.
“All personnel onboard, though with minor injuries, were conscious and safely transported to the 15th Strike Wing Hospital for medical evaluation,” Alcos said.
Alcos noted that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
He added all similar aircraft will temporarily be grounded during the investigation.
“Rest assured that the Philippine Navy is committed to maintaining high standards of operational safety and will use the findings to improve our procedures moving forward,” Alcos said.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said all landing and take-off operations at the Sangley Point Airport have been suspended due to the incident involving a military aircraft that crashed on the runway.
The suspension will remain in effect until further notice as authorities address the situation, it added.
