DAVAO CITY — The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI presented its achievements in 2024 and are in high hopes to continue its programs the next year.

“We are happy to present our accomplishments this year and we hope we can continue doing it for 2025. I encourage everyone to be part of the cooperative movement, by the way in 2025, the United Nations has declared it the International Year of Cooperatives. In many parts of the world, the cooperative movement has been a major component in their economies. In the Philippines, we already have cooperative movement although it is not yet fully developed but can help in our economy,” said Glenn S. Garcia, Regional Director Cooperative Development Authority XI.

In the two-hour Forum, the CDA-XI presented their programs such as the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan, the Cooperative Merge and Consolidation Program, the Koop Kapatid, Certification Program for Cooperative Development Officers, the Trainings to be Avoided by Cooperatives and the Credit Surety Fund.

“As Filipinos, we have the bayanihan spirit, we might as well get ourselves involve in existing cooperatives. Cooperatives can help us in our economic needs and can enhance our capabilities to lead because it’s a people organization, it has a structure. We can create leaders among us, make politicians coming off cooperatives as leaders it would be a great factor for cooperatives to improve,” he added.
