Dr. Antonio Say, president of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation Philippines and Cardinal Santos Medical Center chief medical officer, was honored as one of the “Akasi Exemplars” during the recent celebration of the silver anniversary of the Vitreo-Retina Society of the Philippines (VRSP).
The VRSP bestowed the AKASI Exemplar Award for Outstanding Educator to Say who is also a faculty at UST Hospital Department of Ophthalmology and former president of the Philippine College of Surgeons
The AKASI Exemplar awardees are distinguished members of the Philippine retina community who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their field.
The other awardees were the Retinopathy of Prematurity Working Group for Outstanding Advocate for Vitreo-Retina, Dr. Eleonore Iguban for Emerging Leader, Dr. Sherman Valero for International Collaborator, Dr. Efren Laxamana for Exceptional Leadership, Dr. Harvey Uy for Distinguished Researcher, and Dr. Milagros Arroyo for Outstanding Mentor.
