McDo fun run raises P1M

Around 11,000 marathoners participated in this year’s McDonald’s Stripes Run Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena (MoA) Concert Grounds, the biggest turnout in the marathon’s history.

McDonalds Philippines assistant vice president for corporate relations Adi Timbol-Hernandez said the P1 million raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit, a daycare center that teaches children from low-income families to read.

“So, every Stripes Run is for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). And this year, the benefiting program would be the RMHC Bahay Bulilit,” Timbol-Hernandez said.

“So, the goal of the Bahay Bulilit is to build daycare or learning centers in different barangays or communities all over the country. We currently have 47 Bahay Bulilits all over the country and our goal is to build more.”

This year’s Stripes Run started at the MoA Concert Grounds, then passed by Macapagal Avenue, Cultural Center of the Philippines and back at the starting area.

This year’s Stripes Run featured races in the 1-kilometer fur stripes, 1-km kiddie stripes, 3km stripes and family stripes, 5km stripes and famili stripes, and the 10km stripes.
