ZAMBOANGA CITY — A total of 29 Bangsamoro LGUs will receive the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) this coming December.
BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim Al Haj announced on Thursday that the DILG will award the 2024 SGLG to Maguindanao del Sur province and Lamitan City.
For the category of municipalities, there are two in Basilan province, four in Lanao del Sur (LDS), eight in Maguindanao del Norte (MDN), and 13 in Maguindanao del Sur (MDS).
“The efforts of these local governments reflect the region’s growing commitment to effective governance and public service, aligning with BARMM’s broader objectives of promoting development and good governance in the region,” Ebrahim said.
Meantime, Minister of Local Government Minister (MILG) Atty. Sha Elijah B Dumama-Alba underscored that the LGUs’ accomplishments pattern to the overall goal of the Bangsamoro government — empowered, cohesive and progressive Bangsamoro — under the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan.
This comprehensive roadmap outlines the region’s development priorities and strategies from 2023 to 2028.
Ebrahim, on the other hand, stressed that the milestone not only recognizes effective governance but also validates BARMM’s ongoing efforts to uplift its communities through capable and responsive local governments, the MILG minister added.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the BARMM LGUs in enhancing their governance practices.
