Sara slams PNP over ‘incompetence’

Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday lambasted the Philippine National Police (PNP) for its “incompetence” after it failed to gather information on the alleged threats against her.

Duterte claimed she had been receiving threats on her life.

In a press conference in Zamboanga City, Duterte said it was a “big shame” for the PNP, as it was unaware of the threats.

“It’s embarrassing to the whole world that our Philippine National Police, by the way, has intelligence funds, yet they don’t know what’s happening in our country. It’s shameful that we have police officers who are unaware of the threats against the Vice President,” she said in Filipino.

“They shouldn’t speak like that because it just shows the incompetence of our Philippine National Police,” the Vice President added.

“If I were president, DILG secretary, or PNP chief, the response should be to sit down and investigate the alleged threats so that we can determine if they are true or not,” she added.

Duterte also said she has three disbarment cases filed against her, including a disbarment complaint lodged by Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation Secretary Larry Gadon before the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

“If you remember, there was one in 2011 with the sheriff, and that case is still unresolved. Then there’s another disbarment case related to the disposal of a dead body. And another disbarment case related to revenge…,” she said.

“But let me clarify, because I haven’t read the complaint for those two, so I can’t say exactly what’s in them. I am just basing it on news reports that are coming out. One of them I based on the Supreme Court’s announcement, and the other I based on Larry Gadon’s announcement,” the Vice President said.

She advised those planning to attack her to ensure they have a solid plan and sufficient evidence.

“My advice to these people is to sit down first, plan carefully before you strike, so you don’t end up getting caught lying,” she said.
