It’s normal for ducks to shun strangers. It has that fear instinct like other fowls’ natural defense mechanism.
Such behavior was recently caught in a CCTV video at a New Jersey high school. A stray duck was loitering in a hall at the school and a teacher tried to catch it to take it outside.
The video shows the duck eluding the teacher for several minutes. Finally, the teacher caught the bird and released it outside, ABC News reports.
There are other instances when a duck is doing the chasing.
Delivery rider Christian Lacson is shown in a viral video being followed by a duck wherever he goes.
Lacson calls his pet Kwak-Kwak which wears a baby diaper to prevent its poo from messing the places he visits, reports the TV news show segment “Dapat Alam Mo” hosted by Kuya Kim Atienza.
Atienza called the duck’s behavior “imprinting” where the bird regards the first thing it sees after birth as its parent and would follow it for the rest of its life.
Thus, Kwak-Kwak has become Lacson’s avid follower and even rides on his motorcycle whenever he delivers packages to customers.
