Alex Eala picks up wins in Portugal

Alex Eala made an immediate impact after winning her matches at the W75 Porto tournament in Portugal early Thursday (Manila time).

Eala, 18, defeated Raluca Georgiana Serban, 6-4, 6-2, in the Round of 32 in the women's singles.

Then, she teamed up with United Kingdom's Ali Collins to take down Anca Alexia Todoni of Romania and Vasanti Shinde of India, 7-6, 4-6, 11-9, in the Last 16 of the women's doubles.

This is Eala's first tournament since joining the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open in the United Arab Emirates this month.
