Chery Tiggo fortified its frontline by tapping multi-awarded middle blocker Aby Maraño for the 2024 Premier Volleyball League season opening on 17 February.
Maraño is the latest addition of the Crossovers in its recruitment coup following the announcement of open spiker Ara Galang joining the club earlier Tuesday, 2 January.
Both players were acquired from the disbanded F2 Logistics.
The battle-tested 31-year-old former national team skipper will bring to the table her experience and provide stability to the team with her energy and unquestionable leadership.
A vital cog of the Cargo Movers' five titles in the defunct Philippine Superliga and a grizzled veteran of numerous international stints, Marano would be a great help in Chery Tiggo's quest to end a two-year podium drought since its 2021 Open Conference title conquest.
The Crossovers need Maraño's intimidating presence and energy at the net with young middle blocker Imee Hernandez's status still uncertain after suffering an injury last season.
Maraño, who averaged 6.3 points per game in F2 Logistics' farewell campaign in the PVL in the 2nd All-Filipino Conference, will be joining Cza Carandang and Pauline Gaston at the middle spot.
It will also serve as a reunion for Maraño, a two-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines Most Valuable Player and many-time Best Middle Blocker awardee, and her former national squad teammates Eya Laure Mylene Paat, Jasmine Nabor, Shaya Adorador and Jen Nierva.
Maraño is the fourth former F2 Logistics player to find a new home after libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig joined Cignal and Ivy Lacsina transferred to Nxled last month.
