Basilan infra development on the rise

LAMITAN CITY — Basilan province — a component island province in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao — is now richer by about P3.2 billion worth of various infrastructure projects implemented by the Ministry of Public Works which is one of the well-funded ministries in the BARMM.
Various infrastructure projects are now sprouting all over the province funded by BARMM through the BARMM-MPW headed by Minister Architect Eduard Uy Guerra which include roads, water system projects, footbridges, bridges, box culverts, docking wharf for Ro-Ro vessels, slope protections, drainage systems, shoreline protection, municipal covered court and several other infrastructure development programs in different towns across the island province.
Guerra is visiting these infra projects being implemented by the ministry together with Basilan District Engineer Kasim Ajalal Hasanin and accompanied by regional and district key personnel.
As a native of the province and a graduate of a local engineering university in Zamboanga City, Hasanin vowed to deliver the most in the field of infrastructure for Basilan province.

The housing units costing about P550 million are funded under the Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan or KAPYANAN, a special program of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim which aims to provide decent housing units to poor Bangsamoro communities and victims of armed conflicts in the past.
Under the KAPYANAN project, the town of Sumisip was allocated 250 housing units, Al-Barka with 200 housing units; Hadji Mohammad Ajul with 125 housing units; Lamitan City and Tipo-Tipo with 100 housing units, respectively, while the town of Ungkaya Pukan and Lantawan 50 housing units each and the towns of Tabuan-Lasa, Tuburan, Akbar, Hadji Muhtamad and Maluso were granted 25 housing units each.
