BuCor broke target to release PDLs

The Bureau of Corrections broke its own target for the release of persons deprived of liberty after it hit more than 1000 PDLs released for the month of December.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. is pleased to announce that the numbers of PDLs releases reached 1,093 a day before Christmas.

"Magandang pamasko ito para sa ating PDLs at kanilang mga pamilya na magkakasama sama sila ngayong kapaskuhan at may 200 pa tayong palalayain bago matapos ang taon. Target sana natin na mapalaya thia December is 1,000 pero nalagpasan natin yan," Catapang said.

He thanked BuCor personnel for working overtime to reach and overreach our target.

Catapang also said that the BuCor is presently implementing the "Bilis Laya" program for those qualified PDLs to be out of the penal colony especially those who have already served their minimum and maximum penalties.

During our recent culminating activity, 985 PDLs from various BuCor operating prisons and penal have been released and now we have an additional 108 PDLs released today.

The released PDLs include those who have been acquitted, maximum sentence served, granted probation and paroled.
