P67 million awarded to typhoon Odette victims in Cebu

The National Housing Authority reported over the weekend that it recently provided a total of P67.45 million cash assistance distributed to 6,745 families, victims of Super Typhoon Odette in Cebu province.

Each family received P10,000 from the NHA's Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to aid them in rebuilding their homes from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Odette.

NHA Cebu District Office Officer-in-Charge Engr. Dante U. Estrobo, representing NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, led the distribution activities that started on December 18 to 21, 2023, and will continue on December 27 and 28, 2023.

Included in the distribution were 17 barangays: Mandaue City, Cebu, namely Brgy. Alang-Alang, Basak, Cabancalan, Canduman, Casili, Casuntingan, Centro, Cubacub, Guizo, Ibabao, Jagobiao, Maguikay, Mantuyong, Pagsabungan, Tabok, Tawason, and Tingub.

Super Typhoon Odette made its landfall in the Philippines on 16 December 2021, and Cebu was one of the hardest-hit provinces. It displaced about 31,607 families, destroying approximately 404,653 houses and leaving 1,704,205 homes partially damaged.

Moreover, the NHA's EHAP goal is to help and ease the recovery of families affected by earthquakes, disasters, landslides, floods and victims of fire.
