Davao jail execs, staff undergo surprise drug test
The drug testing was in adherence to Civil Service Commission Circular 13, s. 2017, government agencies strive to maintain a drug-free environment by subjecting public officials and employees to random mandatory drug tests as a condition for ongoing employment.
The Bureau of Corrections conducted an unannounced drug testing for its officials and personnel at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte to ensure a drug-free workforce.
BuCor said that the surprise drug testing was conducted at the administration building within the DPPF compound, with a total of 690 officers and personnel willingly participated overseen by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region XI.
In accordance with Article III, Section 36, paragraph (e) of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, it is mandated that all officers and members of the military, police, and other law enforcement agencies undergo an annual mandatory drug test.

During muster inspections and attendance checks in front of the DPPF Administration Building, all officers and personnel are strictly prohibited from leaving without undergoing testing.
"The campaign against illegal drugs extends beyond Persons Deprived of Liberty to include officers and personnel responsible for enforcing prison rules and regulations," said the BuCor.
