Modern Manila Science HS inaugurated

City officials of Manila led by Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday inaugurated the newly built modern Manila Science High School along Taft Avenue  in Ermita, Manila.

The building construction was initiated by then Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso as one of the many projects he left when he gunned for the presidency last year. Mayor Lacuna completed it during her term. It is now set to be opened to selected honor students in public schools.

Lacuna was joined by Moreno, Vice Mayor Yul Servo, City engineer Armand Andres, Rita E. Riddle, Manolo G. Pena and other city officials.

In a speech given by Moreno, he said that let the new Manila Science building be the showcase that in an urban city like Manila, we can build  a modern type building for public schools that we could be proud of.

"Let us show to the world that we can build a modern high-rise building for public schools as we brace for the coming of more students shortly, a school that we could be proud of,"  Moreno said.

The construction of the school was finished in two years and has complete clean amenities like classrooms, comfort rooms with indoor facilities and is equipped with elevators to serve the 10th floor.

On the part of Lacuna, she said that the school will be available as soon as the transfer of students is completed based on the prevailing situation. Manila Science  is being run at present through online classes.

Meanwhile, Lacuna expressed gratitude to the LandBank of the Philippines for choosing Manila as the beneficiary of its gift-giving activity.

Lacuna said that a total of 500 community children and their respective families were gifted by the said bank on Sunday.

The affair was attended by Manila Department of Social Welfare head Re Fugoso, LandBank executive vice president Alex Lorayes, senior vice president Joselito Vallada, vice president Mira Leah Patio, manager Mildred Reyes and representatives from various departments in Manila City Hall.
